Impact of Land Use Change on Non-Point Source Pollution in a Semi-Arid Catchment under Rapid Urbanisation in Bolivia

چکیده

Changes in pollution pressure exerted on the Rocha River Bolivia from diffuse sources were assessed using potential non-point indexes (PNPI) for 1997 and 2017. PNPI is a simple, low-effort, time- resource-saving method suitable data-scarce regions, as it works at catchment level with commonly available geographical data. Land use type (obtained by Landsat imagery classification), runoff (determined coefficient characterisation) distance to river network (calculated perpendicular distance) each transformed into corresponding indicators determine their relative importance generating pollution. Weighted sum, multi-criteria analysis tool GIS environment, was used combine weighting values. Different values assigned of resulting set six equations. The results showed that higher corresponded human settlements high population density, shorter network, while lower semi-natural land type, longer distances river. positively correlated measured nitrate phosphate concentrations sub-catchment outlets. correlation statistical significant Maps produced identify priority source areas are more likely generate pollution, which important information future management.

A GIS-based integrative approach for land use optimization in a semi-arid watershed

The proper use of natural resources can preserve these valuable assets. In line with the management of natural resources, land use optimization can be highly useful. The aim of the present study is to propose an appropriate integrative model for optimized allocation of lands for surface runoff and sediment load minimization and net income maximization in Bayg watershed, Iran. In this study, fiv...

Impact of land use change on soil erodibility

Vulnerability of soil separates to detachment by water is described as soil erodibility by Universal Soil Loss Equation which can be affected by land use change. In this study it was attempted to quantify the changes of Universal Soil Loss Equation K-factor and its soil driving factors in three land uses including rangeland, rainfed farming, and orchards in Babolrood watershed, northern Iran. Land cover/land use change in semi-arid Inner Mongolia: 1992--2004

The semi-arid grasslands in Inner Mongolia (IM) are under increasing stress owing to climate change and rapid socio-economic development in the recent past. We investigated changes in land cover/land use and landscape structure between 1992 and 2004 through the analysis of AVHRR and MODIS derived land cover data. The scale of analysis included the regional level (i.e. the whole of IM) as well a...
